Behind the Techno (Raw / Deep / Hypnotic) : Release Notes
…is serving welcomes Solitario for IS014 with “Eco,” a hypnotic three-track EP exploring repetition, connection and the collective energy of the dancefloor, completed by a darkroom interpretation from Sina XX. At the centre of the title track is a simple question: “What’s your vision for this room?” Repeated within a deep, hypnotic framework of rolling low-end, percussion and spacious textures, the vocal becomes more than a hook. It asks what we bring into a space, how we contribute to it and how a room is ultimately shaped by the people inside it. That idea of community sits naturally at the heart of “Eco.” Clubs are not simply rooms or sound systems, but environments created collectively between artists, dancers and everyone sharing the floor. As the phrase circles through the track, its meaning begins to shift through repetition, becoming both introspective and communal. For the second cut, Paris-based producer and DJ Sina XX takes “Eco” into the darkroom. His “Darkroom Remix” pushes the original into a darker, more intimate space, reshaping its elements around tension, proximity and repetition while being playful and giving room to explore. Closing the EP, “Ape” brings a more direct rhythmic pressure. Stripped-back textures, tightly controlled percussion and a persistent low-end groove keep the track moving while maintaining Solitario’s hypnotic approach. Across all three tracks, “Eco” reflects the ethos behind …is serving: groove-driven, hypnotic techno rooted in the shared experience of the dancefloor and the communities that give these spaces their meaning.
