Behind the Techno (Raw / Deep / Hypnotic) : Release Notes
Between 2016 and 2018, six tracks were recorded and quietly set aside. They belonged to a period of transition and experimentation, a time when new directions were taking shape, important milestones were reached, and some ideas simply remained buried in the depths of a hard drive. Years later, LOST TAPES brings those recordings into the light. Far from sounding like relics of another era, they retain something remarkably immediate: the tension, curiosity and restless energy of a future still taking shape. “Log” and “Key” strip things back to their bare essentials. “Osc” explores the hypnotic depths of dub-inflected minimalism, while “Wild Nothing” ventures into more abstract territory. “Reality” moves with a raw, physical pulse, and “Collusion” takes a darker turn, driven by the tension and intensity of the dancefloor. More than an exercise in nostalgia, LOST TAPES offers a glimpse into a particular creative moment. Six recordings that remained unheard while everything around them continued to evolve. Music that belongs to another time, yet somehow feels entirely at home in the present. There is something deeply connected to the 808 ethos in that idea: electronic music as an ever-evolving language, where the past is never entirely behind us and forgotten sounds can still find their place in the future.
