1979 is an industrial project from Leipzig, Germany, created in 1998 by Christian Bergmann, a Leipzig-based DJ, musician and producer born in 1979. In 2009, DrMolle (Niko Kötzsch) joined 1979 as a permanent member, making it a duo. The project operates alongside Bergmann's solo work and maintains an active presence through Bandcamp and social media platforms.

The duo produces melodic house and techno with industrial influences, releasing material through labels including fryhide, Lost & Found, and Three Six Zero Recordings. Their electronic output spans from 2018 to 2020 across six documented releases, blending the harder industrial elements of their Leipzig origins with contemporary melodic house structures. The sound reflects both Bergmann's two-decade production experience and the collaborative dynamic established when Kötzsch joined the project.
