Adam X

Adam X is the moniker of Adam Mitchell, an American techno producer born in Brooklyn, New York in 1971. He launched his music career in 1990 and co-founded Groove Records shop in Brooklyn with his brother Frankie Bones in April 1990, specializing in techno music. Mitchell relocated to Berlin in 2007, where he continues to operate as both producer and label owner of Sonic Groove Records. He also releases music under the aliases Traversable Wormhole and ADMX-71, with his first documented release on Electrobuzz dating to January 2013.

Mitchell's sound spans raw, deep, and hypnotic techno through to peak time driving material, positioning him across the full spectrum of dancefloor dynamics. His releases appear on respected labels including his own Sonic Groove imprint, alongside Tresor Records, Bite, and Pinkman. His production style encompasses both album-format explorations and club-focused tracks designed for peak time deployment. The combination of his Brooklyn roots and Berlin residency informs a sound that bridges American and European techno sensibilities, with releases spanning over a decade of consistent output through 2025.
