Arandel

Arandel is a French electronic music group from Lyon that began in 2008. The project operates as an anonymous collective, with member identities remaining undisclosed. The group advocates for a specific creative philosophy that bans samplers and MIDI devices, restricting their productions to traditional musical instruments only. This approach was particularly evident on their album "In D," which references Terry Riley's minimalist composition "In C."

Arandel produces music spanning techno, house, tech house, and electronica, with releases primarily appearing on the French label Infine since 2010. Their sound ranges from peak time driving techno to downtempo electronica, reflecting their instrumental-only production methodology. The group's discography includes six releases between 2010 and 2022, with their most recent output emerging in March 2022. Their tracks blend electronic dance music frameworks with organic instrumentation, creating productions that sit between club-ready house and more experimental electronica territories.
