Armin van Buuren

Armin van Buuren, born Armin Jozef Jacobus Daniël van Buuren, is a Dutch producer and DJ from Leiden who began making house music at age 14 before transitioning to trance. He operates under aliases including Rising Star, Perpetuous Dreamer, and Hyperdrive Inc., and runs Armada Music alongside its subsidiary labels Armind. Van Buuren ranked #1 in DJ Mag's Top 100 poll for five years between 2007 and 2012, establishing a record in that poll.

Van Buuren's current output spans trance, peak time driving techno, melodic house & techno, and raw deep hypnotic techno, primarily released through Armada Music, Armada Music Albums, and Armind, with additional releases on Kontor Records. His sound ranges from main floor trance to driving peak time techno, maintaining the melodic sensibilities that defined early releases like "Blue Fear," "Touch Me," and "Communication." Since 2020, his release schedule has intensified with 44 releases documented, showing an evolution from his trance foundation into harder techno territories while retaining melodic elements across tempos.
