Basic House

Basic House is the project of Stephen Bishop, an electronic producer from Gateshead who operates under several aliases including Skull B and Bish Bash. Bishop founded and runs Opal Tapes, a label that has become a key outlet for his work since his first release in 2015. Based in Teesside, he has maintained a steady output of releases through 2025, establishing himself as both an artist and label operator in the UK electronic music scene.

His sound spans from driving peak-time techno to ambient explorations, with house music forming another core element of his output. The majority of his releases appear on his own Opal Tapes imprint, giving him complete creative control over his diverse sonic palette. Basic House's productions range from high-energy dancefloor tracks suitable for peak hours to more introspective ambient pieces, demonstrating his ability to work across multiple tempos and energy levels within electronic music's broader spectrum.
