About

Chicane is the primary alias of British producer Nicholas Bracegirdle, who originates from Amersham and began his career in 1971. Before establishing the Chicane project, Bracegirdle worked as part of the duo Disco Citizens alongside Leo Elstob, achieving a UK Top 40 hit with "Right Here Right Now" in 1995. The pair remixed their own track "Offshore," originally released under the Chicane name, demonstrating the interconnected nature of Bracegirdle's various projects. He also operates under aliases including Rebel Transcanner and Old Man.

Chicane's sound spans house, trance, and melodic house & techno, with releases consistently appearing on Armada Music and its subsidiaries Armada Music Albums and Armada Electronic Elements since 2020. The project encompasses both dancefloor-focused trance productions and more downtempo chillout material, with 19 releases catalogued between March 2020 and December 2025. Chicane's music operates within the main floor trance spectrum while incorporating melodic elements that bridge into the contemporary melodic house & techno scene, making it suitable for both peak-time and more atmospheric DJ sets.
