Chris Carter

Chris Carter, born in London in 1953, began his electronic music career in 1975 performing under the alias Waveforms at Thurrock Technical College before touring the university circuit. The British industrial musician also records under the name Todd Steele and has been active in electronic music for nearly five decades. Carter started releasing melodic house and techno material in 2018, marking a significant departure from his industrial and minimal synth background.

Carter's recent electronic releases span Melodic House & Techno and Peak Time Driving Techno, appearing on labels including mute and Thursday Club between 2018 and 2025. His sound represents a shift from his industrial roots toward dance floor-oriented productions that blend melodic elements with driving techno rhythms. The five releases documented on these labels demonstrate Carter's adaptation to contemporary electronic music trends while maintaining the precision and experimental approach that defined his earlier minimal synth and industrial work.
