Claptone

Claptone is a Berlin-based DJ and producer duo consisting of Christoph Göttsch and Daniel Brems, who began releasing music in 2011. The pair performs under the mysterious masked persona, with only one member visible on stage at any given time, allowing them to perform simultaneously on different continents. They previously released music under the alias Malente & Dex before adopting the Claptone moniker. In 2023, they launched their own imprint Golden Recordings.

Claptone's sound spans deep house, tech house, and melodic house & techno, characterized by groove-driven productions that balance underground credibility with dancefloor accessibility. Their 79 releases have appeared on respected labels including Defected, Different, Exploited, and Exploited Ghetto since their debut in November 2011. The duo's productions typically feature warm, rolling basslines and carefully crafted melodies that work equally well in intimate club settings and larger festival environments. Their output through 2022 demonstrates a consistent approach to house music that emphasizes musicality alongside the driving rhythms expected from Berlin-based producers.
