Decoder

Decoder is the production alias of Darren Beale, a British artist from Bristol who operates under several aliases including Koda and Acro. Beale began his electronic music career in 1974 and initially gained recognition in the drum and bass scene before expanding into techno production. His current techno output launched in June 2021 with releases spanning multiple electronic music labels.

Decoder's sound encompasses raw, deep and hypnotic techno alongside peak time driving variants, with excursions into ambient, classic electro and electronica territories. His releases appear on Float Records, Molecular Recordings, Fixed Rhythms, Fides, and [R]3volution, with 26 releases documented through early 2026. The productions range from stripped-back hypnotic grooves suitable for extended DJ sets to more aggressive peak time material, demonstrating versatility across techno's tempo and energy spectrum while maintaining the deep, driving aesthetic characteristic of contemporary underground electronic music.
