DJ Manny

DJ Manny, real name Manuel Gaines, is a juke and footwork producer from Harvey, Illinois. He began releasing music in 2019 with his debut on Planet Mu Records, the UK label known for championing footwork and juke artists. Gaines operates under the single alias DJ Manny and has built his catalog primarily through Planet Mu and Teklife, the Chicago collective founded by DJ Rashad.

DJ Manny produces juke and footwork tracks that maintain the genre's characteristic 160 BPM tempo while incorporating bass house and electro elements. His releases on Planet Mu Records showcase the hard-hitting percussion and chopped-up vocal samples typical of Chicago footwork, while his Teklife releases lean into the collective's more experimental approach to the genre. His sound balances traditional juke structures with modern bass music production techniques, creating tracks designed for both footwork battles and club dancefloors. Since 2019, he has released seven projects across these labels, with releases planned through 2025.
