DJ Skull

DJ Skull, born Ron Maney, operates from Chicago's Southside where he began his musical career in 1986 while recovering from a broken bone. He started DJing at basement parties before progressing to loft and hotel events, eventually performing at Chicago's legendary Music Box and Power Plant clubs. At fifteen, Maney shopped his first demo to Trax Records, establishing his presence in the city's house music scene. He runs his own DJ Skull imprint alongside releasing material, with his catalog spanning from 2014 to 2024 across 15 releases.

DJ Skull produces peak time driving techno and classic Detroit electro, with excursions into leftfield house and techno territories. His releases appear on Chiwax, Bass Culture Records, and Solar One Music, demonstrating his range across the harder spectrum of electronic music. His sound centers on high-energy dancefloor material, drawing from Chicago's house heritage while incorporating the driving elements of contemporary techno. The DJ Skull catalog reflects a decade-long evolution from his foundational house roots toward more aggressive, peak-hour oriented productions that maintain the raw energy of his Chicago club origins.
