About

Drexciya is a Detroit electro-techno duo formed in 1989 by James Stinson and Gerald Donald. The group first gained public attention in 1994 with "Aquatic Invasion," launching a thematic series of releases built around a complex mythology of underwater dwellers descended from pregnant slave women thrown overboard during trans-Atlantic slave voyages. The duo operated under several aliases including Elecktroids, L.A.M., and Abstract Thought, maintaining anonymity behind their conceptual personas for much of their career.

Drexciya produces electro and acid house that ranges from raw, hypnotic techno to peak time driving tracks. Their releases on Tresor Records span from 2012 through 2025, showcasing an evolution from their foundational Detroit electro sound into more contemporary techno territories. The duo's productions maintain the aquatic themes and underwater aesthetics that defined their earlier work, delivering both deep, hypnotic sequences and higher-energy peak time material suitable for main room techno sets.
