Dutchican Soul originated as a duo but now operates as the solo project of Niels Schroder, a house producer from Amsterdam, Netherlands. The project began releasing music in 2013 and has maintained consistent output through 2025, accumulating eight releases across multiple labels. Schroder also releases music under the aliases Niel'C and his real name, with former member Jasper Drexhage no longer part of the project.

The Dutchican Soul sound spans house, deep house, and nu disco territories, with releases appearing on Groove Culture and Tinted Records. The project's approach to house music incorporates funky elements, delivering tracks that work across different house subgenres while maintaining dancefloor functionality.
