Emika, real name Ema Jolly, is a Bristol-born composer, producer, singer and DJ who currently lives in Germany. Born on January 8, 1986, she studied Creative Music Technology at Bath Spa University before establishing herself in the electronic music scene. She founded and owns Emika Records around May 2020, releasing her first tracked material in 2014.
Emika produces across multiple electronic genres, spanning from raw and hypnotic techno to melodic house and electronica. Her releases on Emika Records and Astray showcase peak time driving techno alongside more experimental electronica, with her sound rooted in trip-hop and dubstep influences from her earlier work. Her production style ranges from deep, hypnotic techno tracks suitable for underground club environments to more melodic house compositions that blend electronic experimentation with accessible grooves.
