Floating Points

Samuel Thomas Shepherd performs and releases electronic music under the alias Floating Points. Born in Manchester in 1986, he currently operates from London and co-founded Eglo Records, becoming the label's first artist to release material. Shepherd began releasing music in 2014 and maintains a 16-piece ensemble called Floating Points Ensemble for his orchestral compositions.

Floating Points produces house, techno, and electronica that spans deep house grooves to peak-time driving techno. His 25 releases appear on Ninja Tune, Pluto, and Accidental, with material ranging from melodic house productions to more experimental electronica. As a DJ, he incorporates jazz influences into his electronic sets, drawing from his classical training and passion for jazz music. His sound encompasses both intimate deep house tracks and high-energy techno designed for peak-time dance floor moments.
