Gradient

Gradient is a dub techno producer based in Saint Petersburg, Russia, who began releasing music in November 2009. Operating as a solo artist, he has maintained a steady output over more than a decade, with his most recent release appearing in November 2022. Gradient runs his own imprint Greyscale, which serves as the primary outlet for his productions.

His sound centers on dub techno and raw deep hypnotic techno, with excursions into minimal deep tech and peak time driving techno. Gradient releases exclusively on two labels: his own Greyscale imprint and Ranges. His productions typically feature the characteristic spacious atmospheres and delayed chord stabs of dub techno, while his harder material explores driving rhythms and hypnotic loops. Over his 13-year career spanning 10 releases, Gradient has consistently worked within the deeper spectrum of techno, avoiding mainstream crossover in favor of underground club-focused material.
