Green Velvet

Green Velvet is Curtis Alan Jones, a Chicago-born electronic music producer who began his career in 1967. Originally created as an outlet for non-vocal productions by house producer Cajmere, Green Velvet developed into Jones' primary artistic persona through club singles including "Preacher Man," "Answering Machine," and "The Stalker." Jones also produces under the aliases Geo Vogt and The Underground Crew, establishing himself as a key figure in Chicago's electronic music scene.

Green Velvet produces tech house and driving techno with occasional forays into deep house, characterized by peak-time energy and dancefloor-focused arrangements. His 96 releases span major labels including Relief Records, Toolroom, Dirtybird, and Snatch! Records, with his most active period occurring between 2010 and 2019. The music maintains the raw, stripped-down aesthetic of Chicago house while incorporating harder techno elements, delivering tracks designed for prime-time club sets. His sound combines minimal techno structures with house grooves, creating productions that work equally well in underground venues and festival main stages.
