GusGus

GusGus is an electronic group from Reykjavík, Iceland that formed in 1995 as a nine-piece multimedia collective to create a soundtrack for a short film. The band's lineup has changed extensively over three decades, with members including Hafdís Huld, Emilíana Torrini, Daníel Ágúst, Birgir Thorarinsson, and Stephan Stephensen at various points. Since 2021, GusGus operates as a trio and runs their own label oroom, through which they release much of their material.

GusGus produces indie dance, melodic house & techno, and tech house, with their sound rooted in deep house and techno foundations. They release on labels including their own oroom and Oroom ehf imprints, as well as Kompakt, HE.SHE.THEY., and Set About. Their electronic output spans from deeper, melodic compositions to more driving tech house tracks, maintaining consistent activity with 26 releases tracked since their 2014 return to electronic music focus. The group continues releasing new material through 2025, demonstrating their sustained presence in the contemporary house and techno scene.
