Helly Larson

Helly Larson was the stage name of Lars Helbig, a German DJ and producer based in Berlin who released music from 2010 until his death from brain cancer in 2017. He maintained an active release schedule across seven years, producing 17 releases for labels including Lucidflow, Plastic City, Seven Villas, Diametral, and Plastic City FX.

Helly Larson's sound centered on deep house and dub techno, with excursions into organic house and downtempo territory. His releases on established German labels like Lucidflow and Plastic City positioned him within Berlin's deeper house scene, crafting tracks that balanced the hypnotic elements of dub techno with house music's groove structures. The breadth of his label relationships, from the ambient-leaning Seven Villas to the more club-focused Plastic City imprints, reflects an artist comfortable working across house music's tempo and energy spectrum while maintaining a consistently introspective approach.
