About
J.Manuel is Johannes Wagner, a Berlin-based producer who co-founded WERK Records and forms half of the duo Recursion. Wagner began releasing music in 2025, with his debut appearing in April of that year on Tectonic, the Bristol-based label known for bass-heavy electronic music.
His sound spans peak-time driving techno and raw hypnotic variations, alongside classic Detroit electro and modern breakbeat productions. J.Manuel releases on Tectonic, SPANDAU20, and Fjaak, delivering tracks that range from club-focused bass music to UK bass influences. His seven releases between April and October 2025 demonstrate a versatility across 130+ BPM driving techno and breakbeat tempos, with productions that maintain the raw energy suitable for peak-time DJ sets while incorporating the deeper, hypnotic elements that work in extended club sessions.
