About

James Ruskin is a British techno producer and DJ born in Croydon in 1972. He began DJing in 1991 after being influenced by hip hop, electro, and emerging Detroit techno scenes. In 1994, he started producing with studio partner Richard Polson, and together they founded Blueprint Records in 1996. Ruskin also performs under the alias Métier and served as resident DJ at Circulation.

Ruskin produces peak time driving techno and raw deep hypnotic techno, with releases spanning house and tech house territories. His music appears on Blueprint Records, Tresor Records, Clergy, and Tsunami Records. Blueprint serves as his primary outlet, where he delivers both solo productions and collaborative work. His sound maintains the driving intensity characteristic of British techno while incorporating the hypnotic elements that defined his early influences from Detroit's underground scene.
