Jerome Sydenham

Jerome Sydenham is a Nigerian-born DJ and producer from Ibadan who relocated to New York and later to Berlin in the 2000s. Born in 1967, he worked as A&R at Atlantic and EastWest under Merlin Bobb and served as label manager at Pallas Records before founding his own imprints. He established Ibadan Records in 1995, followed by Kraftmatic Records in 2018 and Royal Babylon in 2021. Sydenham also produces under the aliases Downtown Brooklyn Inc. and Casino J.

Sydenham's sound spans from deep house to peak time driving techno, with releases appearing on his own Kraftmatic Records, Royal Babylon, and Ibadan Records, as well as Rekids. His productions range from raw, deep, and hypnotic techno to tech house and classic house styles. Since his first Electrobuzz-tracked release in November 2009, he has maintained consistent output with 62 releases through January 2025, demonstrating his versatility across the house and techno spectrum while operating primarily through his own label network.
