John Askew

John Askew is a British trance and tech trance DJ and producer born John Osborne Askew on November 1, 1975. He launched the digital label VII in 2016 and established Deep In Thought in March 2019. Askew performs as part of the VII crew collective and forms the AA Meeting duo alongside Activa. He has also released music under the alias Nothing But Rockets.

Askew's recent output spans peak time driving techno, Afro house, deep house, and funky house, marking a significant evolution from his established trance and tech trance foundation. His releases on VII demonstrate versatility across tempo ranges, from the deeper house grooves to driving peak-time techno tracks. Since October 2024, he has maintained consistent output with six releases on his own VII imprint, showcasing a sound that bridges his trance heritage with contemporary house and techno production styles suitable for both underground club sets and peak-hour dance floor moments.
