Jorge Bezerra
About
Jorge Bezerra is a Brazilian percussionist from Rio de Janeiro who began his electronic music career in 2024. Born in 1978, Bezerra started playing percussion with Candomblé drums in Afro-Brazilian religious ceremonies before transitioning to professional music in 1993 with the Afro-music band "Lemy Ayo" where he served as artistic director. In 1995, he arranged and led the Afro-Cuban band "Orunmila" before eventually moving into electronic music production.
Bezerra produces house, deep house, indie dance, afro house, and breaks across a 125-140 BPM range, drawing from his extensive percussion background to create rhythm-driven tracks. He releases music on Atjazz Record Company and Exploited, with five releases documented between May 2024 and January 2026. His sound combines traditional Afro-Brazilian percussion elements with contemporary electronic production, particularly evident in his afro house work where his Candomblé drumming experience translates directly into the genre's polyrhythmic structures.
