About

Kaiser Souzai is a Berlin-based techno project that began in 2003 as a hard trance act featuring Markus Binapfl, Gerd Lehmkuhl, and Patrick Buck. The project evolved into a tech house and minimal venture from 2006 to 2009, with Binapfl and Buck as the primary producers while Lehmkuhl appeared occasionally alongside various guest collaborators. Since 2013, Kaiser Souzai operates as Binapfl's solo techno project, taking its name from the character Keyser Söze in "The Usual Suspects."

Kaiser Souzai's sound spans peak time driving techno, tech house, progressive house, and deep house across 37 releases since February 2013. The project releases primarily on Ballroom Records and its sister label Ballroom Black, alongside Patent Skillz, Bunny Tiger Dubs, and Funk'n Deep Records. The music delivers high-energy techno designed for peak-hour dancefloors, with Binapfl's solo era showing a focused shift toward harder, driving rhythms compared to the project's earlier minimal and tech house phases.
