Kangding Ray

Kangding Ray is the experimental electronic project of David Letellier, born in France in 1978 and currently based in Berlin. Letellier founded the ara label and has been releasing music under the Kangding Ray moniker since 2012. The project spans over a decade of releases across multiple respected imprints in the electronic music scene.

Kangding Ray operates primarily within techno territories, producing both peak time driving cuts and raw, deep, hypnotic compositions that blur the lines between dance floor functionality and experimental electronic music. His releases appear on prominent labels including Stroboscopic Artefacts, FIGURE, and raster noton, with his own ara imprint serving as another outlet for his productions. The sound incorporates glitch elements and electronica influences, creating techno that moves between high-energy club tracks and more introspective electronic compositions. Letellier's approach to production has maintained consistency across his catalog while exploring different intensities and textures within the broader techno framework.
