KUENTA

KUENTA is the electronic music project of Amsterdam-based producer, DJ and vocalist Roel Calister. The artist began releasing music in late 2024, with the first release appearing in November of that year. KUENTA operates as part of the broader Kuenta i Tambu collective, a group that has been active since 2008.

KUENTA produces afro house, house, and indie dance tracks that blend rhythmic percussion with electronic production. The project releases exclusively on Salto Sounds, a subsidiary of Moganga, with five releases appearing between November 2024 and July 2025. The music incorporates vocal elements alongside driving house rhythms, creating dancefloor-focused tracks that operate within the 120-128 BPM range typical of contemporary afro house. KUENTA's sound draws from both traditional house structures and afro-Caribbean influences, delivering music suited for peak-time DJ sets.
