Lady Blacktronika

Lady Blacktronika is the project of Akua Marcelle Grant, a DJ and electronic recording artist born November 19, 1975 in San Jose, California and now based in Berlin, Germany. She began music production in 2006 after gaining her first taste of the studio in 1997 doing vocals on unreleased house tracks with DJ Mattski. Grant also records under the aliases Cinnaster and Lady B~Noir, with her Lady Blacktronika releases appearing between 2015 and 2016.

Her sound operates within deep house and house territories, with releases appearing on What Ever Not and Bass Culture Records. The Lady Blacktronika project represents Grant's transition from vocalist to producer, developing tracks that maintain the foundational elements of house music while incorporating her own production aesthetic. Her catalog spans a focused two-year period with five documented releases, positioning her work within Berlin's electronic music community during the mid-2010s.
