Lukey Artist Bio
Lukey, born on the 18th of December 1987 was destined for stardom since his soothing silky tones tore across the air from his cradle of straw and hemp when bawling for the aid of his ever-nurturing mother. It has been commonly cited by witnesses that when Lukey was being put to sleep he would often lull whoever was tucking him into bed into an unexpected slumber with his “cherub-like voice” and hypnotic melodies and humming, after of which he would creep about and listen to his parents CD collection of “Sonic Youth”, “Jimi Hendrix” and “Nick Cave”.
He was not yet old enough to understand the words, but the message was clear.
Upon moving to Brighton from his birthplace, which is yet to be identified he changed his name from Faigin Severino Davey to “Lukey §” and kicked off his music career by being forced to sing by Miss Cowl in a Year 7 Music lesson around a piano at Dorothy Stringer High School. The next few years would be spent learning to play the guitar and meeting two life-time collaborators; Ollie Sitford and Max Muskett: The person single handedly responsible for lifting Lukey’s career off the ground in years to come. In the meantime, Ollie, Lukey, Max and Darren formed a band called “AdamSelf”, a band whose live reputation would eventually be their downfall. They were limitlessly unsuccessful. Muskett, no matter how hard he tried couldn’t write lyrics or sing and the rest of them were equally talentless (except the drummer who was set for a life of stardom). Lukey being the good natured soul he was, didn’t have the heart to quit the bad so just waited until they faded out, which inevitably, they did.
Upon changing his name to Lukey Davey, Max and Lukey would write and record the odd song together in Max Muskett’s (who was in training to be a record producer/engineer) bedroom on an old microphone and an outdated version of cubase. These recordings are incredibly rare and only available on limewire disguised as Fall Out Boy songs.
Lukey made various other collaborations in the coming years with other producers and songwriters but they weren’t as good as Max. End.
In 2007 Lukey recorded some demos with Max but they were never sent to a label partially due to his anxiety about fame and unwillingness to play live. In 2008 he recorded an E.P with producer Max who further pushed his experimental tendencies by incorporating elements of Musique Concrete into soundscapes that fill-in between each track and give a personal edge to the recordings, “think of them as peepholes into the creative and reclusive life that Lukey leads” cited renowned music critic and PE teacher Mr Missirian, he then went on to add “I think this is better than James Blunt, Lukeys got something that James just hasn’t… got”
Lukey is Currently recording his first full-length album in worthing with his long-time collaborator Max Muskett and an assortment of session musicians. The release date is set for mid-2009.
