Major Lazer

Major Lazer is an electronic music group formed in Los Angeles in 2008 by Wesley Pentz, originally collaborating with Switch until their split in late 2011. The project now includes producers Walshy Fire and Ape Drums, with the group maintaining Jamaican connections despite its Los Angeles origins. The collective began releasing music on Electrobuzz in 2019, with their first tracked release appearing in November of that year.

Major Lazer's sound spans house, breaks, and Afro house territories, releasing music through Mad Decent / Because Music and TH3RD BRAIN. Their productions incorporate elements of deep house and UK bass, creating tracks that range from club-ready house cuts to breakbeat-influenced material. The group's releases on Electrobuzz demonstrate their ability to work across different tempos and energy levels, from the driving rhythms of their house productions to the syncopated patterns of their breaks-oriented tracks, with their most recent release appearing in early 2026.
