Mark Farina

Mark Farina is a Chicago-born DJ and producer who relocated to San Francisco in the early 1990s and now operates from Dallas. He runs the Great Lakes Audio label and has released music under the aliases Urban Backcountry and Bernal Boogie. Farina gained recognition through his Mushroom Jazz series and began his career in 1969, establishing himself within Chicago's house and acid jazz scenes before expanding his geographical reach across major US cities.

Farina's electronic music output spans deep house, tech house, jackin house, and nu disco across 18 releases since 2016. His tracks appear on respected labels including Moulton Music, Robsoul Recordings, Large Music, and Blacksoul Music. His sound incorporates downtempo elements and acid jazz influences from his Chicago roots, delivering house music that ranges from the driving energy of jackin house to the smoother textures of deep house and nu disco. His production style reflects his cross-genre background, blending traditional house structures with jazz-influenced musicality.
