Martin John Dawson was a British DJ and producer who began releasing electronic music in 2010. Born in 1978, he operated under multiple aliases including King Roc and Hawk Dawson, with his debut album under the King Roc moniker receiving widespread acclaim. Dawson maintained an active production schedule until his death in November 2012, following a brain aneurysm that hospitalized him earlier that month.
Dawson's sound spanned deep house, tech house, and afro house territories, with occasional forays into indie dance. His 18 releases between 2010 and 2025 demonstrate a versatility that moved fluidly between the deeper, groove-oriented end of house music and its more percussive, club-ready variants.
