MC GQ

MC GQ, real name Gary Francis, is a drum and bass MC from Hackney, London who has been active in the UK underground scene since the early 1990s. He previously worked as part of the Squadron sound system alongside DJ Spoony and later performed hip-hop under the alias MC Juice before establishing himself as a resident MC at A.W.O.L. Francis began releasing tracks under the MC GQ moniker in 2022, with his first release appearing on Snatch! Records in September of that year.

MC GQ operates primarily within drum and bass and jungle territories, delivering his distinctive vocal style over high-energy breakbeats and heavy basslines. His releases have appeared on established labels including Flexout Audio and Suburban Base Records, alongside newer imprints like Curation Best Of 2025. His sound draws from the foundation era of jungle drum and bass, maintaining the charismatic MC presence that defined the scene's early development. Francis continues to release material across both house and drum and bass genres, with his most recent output scheduled through 2026.
