Mechanist

Mechanist is the project of William Bass, an electronic music producer from Southampton, United Kingdom. Bass also releases music under the aliases dyfr and Exesti, with his first Mechanist release appearing in August 2014. Over the past decade, he has released eight tracks across three labels specializing in underground electronic music.

His sound spans peak time driving techno, dub techno, and raw hypnotic variants, with releases appearing on IIVII, Hypnotic Landscapes Records, and Space Textures. The Mechanist project delivers both floor-focused driving rhythms suitable for peak hours and deeper, more meditative dub-influenced compositions that work in extended sets. His most recent release dropped in February 2024, maintaining a consistent output that moves between the harder edges of contemporary techno and its more atmospheric, spaced-out territories.
