Merv is a Danish electronic music duo based in Copenhagen that originally started as a four-member project before becoming a duo. The group currently consists of Johnnie Schmidt and Brian Oldenborg, with former members Thomas Gylsen and Jan Christiansen. Merv began releasing music in 2017 and has maintained an active presence in the underground electronic scene with five releases spanning from 2017 to 2025.
The duo produces dub techno and peak-time driving techno, with their sound ranging from raw and hypnotic to more driving club-focused material. Merv releases primarily on minimood and Kontakt Records, establishing their presence within the European techno circuit. Their productions lean heavily into the deeper, more atmospheric side of techno while maintaining the driving energy necessary for peak-time DJ sets, making their tracks suitable for both introspective listening and dancefloor moments.
