Metope is the project of German producer Michael Schwanen, who operates from Berlin and co-founded Areal Records. He began releasing music in 2010 and maintains an active presence on his own label, where he has issued eight releases between 2010 and 2016.
His sound spans deep house, tech house, and peak-time driving techno, creating material that works across different points in a DJ set. Schwanen's productions on Areal Records demonstrate his range from deeper, atmospheric house tracks to more driving techno cuts suitable for peak-time play. His approach incorporates elements of minimal tech and deep tech, resulting in tracks that maintain dancefloor functionality while exploring the intersections between house and techno genres.
