Mike Schommer

Mike Schommer co-founded Deepchord Records in Detroit, Michigan in the late 1990s alongside Rod Modell, establishing the label as a key purveyor of second-wave Basic Channel-influenced dub techno. After the label ceased operations in the early 2000s following unexpected commercial success, Schommer took a fifteen-year break from music production before returning in 2017. The Detroit-based producer also records under the aliases Lux, Techniker, and Domestic Terrorist.

Schommer's current output spans dub techno, raw and hypnotic techno, and minimal deep tech across labels including Primary [colours], Mosaic, spclnch, and Kontakt Records. His sound draws from his Deepchord foundation while incorporating peak-time driving techno elements, with releases since 2018 demonstrating a progression from his label's original atmospheric dub techno template toward more club-ready material. The ten releases in his current catalog showcase both the meditative qualities of his Detroit dub techno roots and the harder-edged approach of contemporary underground techno.
