Monolake is a German electronic music group founded in Berlin in 1995 by Robert Henke and Gerhard Behles. The duo originally operated together until Behles shifted focus to running Ableton, the music software company they co-founded in 1999 with Bernd Roggendorf. Henke now continues the Monolake project as a solo endeavor, maintaining the group's presence in Berlin's electronic music scene since the mid-1990s.
The group produces dub techno, ambient techno, and minimal techno across a spectrum that ranges from driving peak-time tracks to atmospheric electronica and ambient compositions. Monolake releases on Imbalance Computer Music and 50weapons, with their Electrobuzz catalog spanning from 2014 to 2025 and encompassing both club-focused techno and experimental ambient work. Their sound operates within IDM and ambient techno territories, delivering both floor-ready material and deeper listening experiences that reflect Berlin's underground electronic music heritage.
