About

Octave One is a techno group formed by brothers Lenny, Lawrence and Lorne Burden in Detroit, Michigan. The group also includes siblings Lynell and Lance Burden in their productions. They released their first single "I Believe" on Derrick May's Transmat label in 1990 and operate under aliases including Random Noise Generation, Never On Sunday, and The Burden Brothers. The group runs their own 430 West Records label, which has served as their primary release platform since their 2000 breakthrough single "Blackwater" became their biggest hit, selling over one million copies.

Octave One produces techno ranging from peak time driving tracks to melodic house and techno, with releases spanning house and electronica territories. Their catalog on 430 West Records includes 18 releases between 2011 and 2024, showcasing Detroit techno foundations with melodic sensibilities. The group's sound draws from their Motor City heritage while incorporating house elements, creating tracks suitable for both peak-time dancefloor moments and deeper listening sessions. Their releases consistently appear on their own 430 West imprint, maintaining creative control over their output while staying rooted in Detroit's techno tradition.
