Orion began as a Danish group project between Jean Borelli and Dennis Jessen, though Jessen was quickly replaced by Mino Vaknin (Meir Vaknin). The project has since evolved into a solo endeavor by Jean Borelli. Orion operates their own imprint, Orion Records, alongside releasing material since November 2014.

Orion produces techno across multiple subgenres, spanning raw and hypnotic deep techno to peak time driving variants, with additional forays into house, dub techno, and ambient territories. The project releases on labels including H-Productions, Trapez, Gynoid Audio, and Absence of Facts, accumulating 34 releases through December 2025.
