Michael Vater, known professionally as Phonique, is a German DJ and producer who founded the Ladies And Gentlemen label. Based in Germany, he began releasing music in 2010 and has maintained consistent output through 2025 with 55 releases documented across his career. Vater operates under his real name as an alias alongside his primary Phonique moniker.
Phonique produces deep house and melodic house & techno, with explorations into tech house and organic house territories. His releases appear on his own Ladies And Gentlemen imprint as well as established German labels including Bar 25 Music, Ritter Butzke Records, Sprinkler, and Zatar Music. The music spans house tempos with melodic sensibilities, drawing from both the deeper, contemplative side of house music and its more driving, techno-influenced variants. His sound encompasses both dancefloor-focused tracks and downtempo compositions, reflecting the diverse programming approach of Berlin's electronic music scene.
