Plaid

Plaid is a British electronic music duo comprising Ed Handley and Andy Turner, formed in London in 1991. The pair initially recorded as Plaid while still members of Black Dog Productions, releasing their first album in 1991. In 1995, Handley and Turner left The Black Dog after a five-year collaboration with Ken Downie, dedicating themselves full-time to Plaid. The duo has also recorded under the alias Crewmunity.

Plaid's sound spans electronica, progressive house, and techno, with releases appearing on Warp Records and Musar Recordings since 2016. Their music ranges from intricate electronic compositions to peak-time driving techno, reflecting their IDM roots while incorporating house rhythms. The duo's catalog on electronic music platforms shows five releases between 2016 and 2022, demonstrating their continued evolution from experimental electronic pioneers into producers capable of crossing between cerebral electronica and dancefloor-focused house and techno productions.
