About
Qv is the electronic music alias of Norwegian jazz pianist and producer Morten Qvenild, born August 31, 1978 in Kongsberg, Norway. Qvenild operates Ugla Lyd studio and began releasing electronic music under the Qv moniker in January 2025, marking a departure from his established jazz career into underground electronic territories.
Qv's sound spans raw and hypnotic techno through to peak-time driving cuts, with releases appearing on labels including Sperk, Loose Records, The Acid Mind Recordings, Raw Quarter DGTL, and Kneaded Pains. The project incorporates Afro house rhythms and classic Detroit electro influences alongside darker electronica elements, drawing from Qvenild's production expertise and jazz background. With nine releases scheduled between January 2025 and January 2026, Qv represents a concentrated creative output that bridges the artist's studio engineering skills with contemporary underground dance floor dynamics.
