Rolando

Rolando Ray Rocha emerged from southwest Detroit's Hispanic district, where Latin rhythms and percussion shaped his early musical development. The son of a musician, he discovered techno in 1985 after hearing Jeff Mills perform as "The Wizard," which redirected his musical path toward electronic production. He operates under several aliases including The Aztec Mystic and 035, and runs his own imprint R3 Roland Rocha Records, which has served as the primary outlet for his releases since he began producing in 2011.

Rolando crafts peak-time driving techno and raw hypnotic techno, with occasional forays into tech house and electronica that reflect his Latin percussion background. His 19 releases span primarily across his own R3 Roland Rocha Records and the respected Dutch label Delsin, known for releasing forward-thinking electronic music. His sound operates in the harder spectrum of techno, delivering the intensity required for peak-time DJ sets while incorporating the deep, hypnotic elements that define Detroit's techno tradition. The cultural fusion of his Hispanic heritage with Detroit techno creates tracks that maintain dancefloor functionality while carrying distinct rhythmic complexity.
