Rown

Rown is the house music project of David Alexander de Horne Rowntree, born in Colchester, Essex in 1964. Rowntree gained fame as the drummer for Blur and later played on Gorillaz' debut album, before launching his electronic music career under the Rown alias. He has released five tracks since October 2025, marking a distinct departure from his rock background into electronic music production.

Rown's sound spans multiple house subgenres, from deep house to peak time driving techno and bass house, with notable explorations into Afro house. His releases appear on major electronic labels including Armada Music and Hexagon, indicating his rapid integration into the commercial house scene. The project demonstrates versatility across tempo ranges, moving from deeper, more contemplative tracks to high-energy peak time material designed for main room floors, with his most recent release dropping in March 2026.
