Savage

Roberto Zanetti operates under the Savage alias, originally established as an Italo-disco project in the 1980s. Born in Massa, Italy in 1956, Zanetti began studying piano at age 14 and achieved his first commercial success in 1978 with the band Santarosa. He adopted the Savage moniker based on the comic character Doc Savage and composed the Italo-disco track "Don't Cry Tonight." The project has experienced a contemporary resurgence, with five releases appearing between February 2022 and May 2024.

Savage's current output spans Afro House and Drum & Bass, representing a significant departure from the original Italo-disco foundation. The project has released material on Crosstown Rebels, Wired, Go Deeva Records, and IZIKI since 2022. This modern iteration demonstrates versatility across both the deeper, percussion-driven rhythms of Afro House and the high-energy breakbeats characteristic of Drum & Bass. The dual-genre approach positions Savage within both the underground house scene and the UK-influenced bass music community.
