Scan 7 is a Detroit collective that formed in 1993, operating as a mysterious underground group of seven artists led by Lou Robinson. The group maintains close ties to Underground Resistance and includes members Anthony Horton, Vernell Shelton, One of 7, Kris Harris, and DJ Red Line among its rotating roster. Based in Detroit, Scan 7 has released music continuously from 2012 through 2025, with 13 documented releases across various labels.
The collective produces driving techno and deep house that spans 120-140 BPM ranges, reflecting Detroit's raw underground aesthetic through peak time driving techno and raw hypnotic variations. Scan 7 releases on established labels including Transmat, KMS Records, Heist Recordings, Deeptrax Records, and Third Ear Recordings. Their sound incorporates classic Detroit electro elements alongside modern techno production, delivering both deep house grooves and raw hypnotic techno that maintains the collective's underground resistance ethos across different tempos and energy levels.
