Sam Shackleton, born in Lancashire and now based in Berlin, emerged during the early dubstep scene and ran the influential label Skull Disco alongside Appleblim from 2005 to 2008. He launched his own imprint Woe To The Septic Heart in 2010, which serves as the primary outlet for his releases. Shackleton also records under the aliases Reiner Zufall and Tunes Of Negation, with his first tracked release dating to 2011.
Shackleton's sound spans dubstep, post-dubstep, tribal ambient, and UK garage, characterized by hypnotic percussion patterns and atmospheric textures that operate at slower tempos than conventional techno. His releases appear on labels including his own Woe To The Septic Heart, AD 93, and Honest Jon's Records, with 15 releases catalogued through 2026. His music bridges the gap between dubstep's bass-heavy foundations and ambient electronica, creating tracks that work for both focused listening and club environments seeking deeper, more meditative energy.
